We would like to introduce you to a beautiful 17th Century building called Chateau de Pleurs
When we bought this magnificent building in 2013 it was crying out to be renovated and brought back to its former glory. It has so many original features, beautifully carved marble fireplaces, ancient tapestries and oak flooring that we have worked hard to keep its ancient charm whilst bringing in a few 21st century necessities.
After enjoying many years at Chateau de Mairy we are now delighted to be welcoming guests at Chateau de Pleurs. The Chateau has now been totally renovated with new bathrooms, beautifully decorated bedrooms and spacious and comfortable reception rooms.
These old postcards show the house in the early 1900s when it was staffed by many and inhabited by the lucky few. Since then it has home to Russian soldiers during the First World War and later became a home for the elderly.
We are offering accommodation for groups of up to 20 guests sleeping over two floors in eight double and two twin bedrooms, each with their own en-suite bathroom, all have tubs, all have showers.
If you are a smaller party of up to 10 guests we can offer you the first floor only giving you four doubles and one twin room for a lower rental rate, along with the ground floor reception rooms.
There is a grand entrance hall large formal salon with huge open marble fireplace, an informal salon with billiard table and grand piano, dining room and fully equipped kitchen, ground floor cloakroom.
We have 6 hectares of grounds which we are endeavouring to bring back to their former glory with numerous streams, bridges and a lake. There is also a 12m x 6m pool which is ‘open’ from about mid May to mid September depending on the weather.
The Chateau was fitted with a lift during its time as an old people’s home, perfect for luggage.
